Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
When you enter a name or case number into a search tool shown on this site, the query is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and returns any results. We do not keep or log the terms entered into those search tools on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you choose to send us an email, we retain the message to respond to it. It remains within our organization and is not shared outside it unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, our servers may receive routine technical information about the visit, including:
- the IP address associated with the device
- browser type and version
- device type and operating system
- pages viewed and the time spent on them
- the referring website, when one is available
- timestamps for page views
Cookies and Analytics
We use cookies, small files placed on a device, to understand site traffic and page use. Analytics services help us evaluate that aggregated information. Browser settings can block cookies, although some site features may behave differently when cookies are disabled.
What We Do With This Data
- operate, maintain, and improve site performance
- send a submitted search query to the relevant partner service
- understand which pages visitors use and how they navigate the site
- identify and address technical problems
- display advertising that may be relevant to visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
This site does not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of court dockets or individual case records. It provides general routing information for Alexander County records held by the Clerk of Superior Court and for public searching through the North Carolina eCourts Portal. Under G.S. 7A-109, the clerk maintains court records and allows inspection when access is not otherwise restricted. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or records about third parties.
Third-Party Search Partners
Search boxes on this site are run by outside providers. Information entered into one of those tools is governed by that provider's privacy policy, retention practices, and sharing rules, not by this policy. Review the provider's policy before submitting a search because we do not control how that provider handles the data.
Links to Other Websites
Our pages link to the Clerk of Superior Court, North Carolina court resources, the statewide eCourts Portal, legal-aid resources, and third-party search services. A link takes you to a separate website whose privacy terms apply to your visit there. Review that website's policy before providing personal information.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to track activity across websites for targeted advertising. That activity is carried out through their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Information may be disclosed to:
- search partners that process a query submitted through their tool
- analytics providers used to measure traffic and performance
- advertising networks that serve ads on the site
- law-enforcement agencies or government bodies when a valid legal demand requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
We use customary safeguards intended to protect the information we collect. No online system can be guaranteed completely secure, however, and we cannot promise that a security incident will never occur.
Users Under 18
This site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. If we learn that a minor has submitted personal data, we will remove it promptly.
Your Data Rights
North Carolina's Public Records Law, G.S. Chapter 132, and G.S. 7A-109 govern public-record access through the relevant governmental custodian, including court-record inspection through the clerk where permitted. They do not make this private site the custodian of Alexander County case files. For personal data we control, and subject to applicable law, you may:
- request a copy of the information we retain about you
- ask us to correct inaccurate information
- request deletion of your information
- object to certain processing of your data
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy from time to time. A revised version will appear on this page with an updated effective date, so visitors who want to review current practices should return to this page.
Effective date: August 31, 2026
